Studying psychology in the USA

I am a prospective psychology student, and I would like to know typically how many years of studying psychology a person needs to be able to be effectively employed in the field.



I have heard it takes a Master's degree in psychology. How long would it take altogether to get a Masters after attaining a Bachelor's degree?
