Your question is interesting. Didn't you go over your personal goals with your therapist? Mental imagery is not used to solve a particular type of issue or problem - it's used to solve many problems that are unique to the client...If you dont know why your therapist chose to help you by having you engage in a particular technique, YOU should ask why - no one else can answer that question.
